'Too Good to Waste' together with Adelaide Central Market

The concept of 'Too Good to Waste' came out of the food sustainability forum hosted by the Adelaide Central Market and OzHarvest in October 2012 with UK Love Food Hate Waste expert Richard Fox. More than forty South Australian food professionals came together to listen to a panel of experts and discuss food sustainability issues in an open forum. The summary of the discussion led to the findings that education of the public is the key to creating sustainable food systems.

OzHarvest and the Adelaide Central Market decided we wanted to continue this journey together and so the 'Too Good to Waste' campaign was born!

We want to raise awareness about sustainable food practises in the household and in particular food waste avoidance. This includes teaching Australians to shop with the seasons, making the most of your produce, storage solutions to increase the longevity of food, simple recipes, leftover tips and preserving methods.

On the second Friday night of each month beginning in April 2013, you will see us at Adelaide Central Market spreading the word. Keep an eye out each month for which popular chef or cook is our guest and which seasonal fruit or vegetable is featured - you can collect recipe cards each month and learn new skills from our team which keep your produce lasting longer! Plus follow us on Facebook and Twitter for news throughout the month.
